The Emerging College Leaders Program (ECL) has contributed to the development of staff and faculty's leadership capacites at Buffalo State College for the last ten years. This program is a six day leadership development opportunity for faculty and staff who are interested in becoming more effective leaders.

What will participants in the ECL Program accomplish?
The program includes leadership style assessments, workshops and ongoing development planning. Participants will accomplish the following:
Increase their self-awareness and mindfulness as leaders
Maximize current leadership skills and reflect on skills in need of development
Explore and understand the complexities of leadership in higher education
Enhance skills in problem solving, interpersonal communication, delivering feedback, and conflict management
Create a personal leadership development plan
Design systems to support future leadership, personal, and professional goals
Who can Participate in the ECL program?
The Professional Development Department encourages all faculty and staff interested in the ECL program to apply. Participants in the program may have never held leadership positions, may be an intermediate supervisor, manage a small unit, or aspire to a new leadership role.
What is reqired of the ECL Program participants?
Attend all workshops (six morning sessions from 8:30am-12:30pm)
Engage in one individual coaching session (by appointment)
Participate in two follow-up ECL cohort meetings scheduled at a convenient time for the group
Complete assessment instruments and be open to receiving feedback from multiple sources
Create and commit to a personal leadership plan
