The Professional Development Center (PDC) offers the services listed below for teams and departments to further improve effectiveness and goal attainment. Departments or teams who are interested in one of these services should schedule a meeting with Jonathan Hulbert, Director of Leadership and Organizational Development to discuss the situation and desired service outcomes. We will discuss your situation, help you identify the challenges and opportunities, and recommend a plan to achieve the goals you have established.
When team members are able to genuinely trust one another, engage in constructive conflict around ideas, formulate consensus and commitment around decisions, hold each other accountable for outcomes, and work towards achieving collective results they are better able to attain established goals and create a positive work environment. The PDC partners with departments to effectuate these team outcomes through coaching, assessments, and interactive team meeting facilitation.
Divisions, departments, teams, and work groups who are interested in offering a retreat can partner with the PDC to assist in the design, facilitation, and evaluation of retreat outcomes.
Sometimes departments and team have process or performance goals that are difficult to attain because of historical, new, or unexpected challenges. The PDC provides tools, techniques, campus resources, and facilitation to help departments and teams identify the critical challenges to overcome, leverage existing strengths for overcoming those challenges, and generate solutions to close performance gaps to achieve desired results.
The PDC offers design and facilitation services for departments and teams who are interested in developing and implementing a strategic plan. The strategic planning process may include, but is not limited to, assistance with identifying and developing group consensus around strategic goals, tactics, key performance indicators, action steps, and a responsibility map tied to the mission, vision, and values of the department, division, and Buffalo State College.
The PDC provides consultation, design, and facilitation assistance for assessment tools including interviews, focus groups, surveys, and assessments to help departments identify and understand challenges and opportunities for improving services, team effectiveness, and the customer or student experiences.
Colleges and Universities throughout the country are experiencing rapid changes in student demographics, enrollment trends, compliance mandates, and academic offerings. These shifts in the higher education landscape inevitably require departments and teams to examine and change their processes, organizational structures, and operations to continue to effectively achieve desired results. Departments and teams can partner with the PDC to assess the impact of changes, prioritize the most effective change strategies, and implement best practices to successfully facilitate necessary changes.
Departments or teams who are interested in engaging their group in a workshop on any professional development topic can partner with the PDC to ensure the desired workshop outcomes for staff, faculty, and administrators are provided.
