Aimable Twagilimana, Ph.D., is a professor in the English Department, and has been selected as a recipent for the President's Professional Development Award and will receive $250.00 towards his registration to the Open SUNY Summit 2019 in East Syracuse N.Y., that was held on March 6-8th, 2019. Aimable has been an Open SUNY Fellow since February 2015, and has been teaching 80% of his courses online.
"My courses cover a wide range of disciplines, including Africana Studies, African American literature and theory, linguistics, and world literature. While I have developed a certain level of online expertise because of practice (I have taught more than 30 sections 100% online), attending the Open SUNY Summit 2019 offers a valuable opportunity to learn from colleagues with expertise on online teaching and learning in and beyond the classroom. I am particularly interested in models of collaboration among academic, administrative, and support units in delivering online education and ensuring student success. Networking at the summit will also introduce me to communities of practice that will continue to be a source of ideas as I continue to develop as an online instructor and a leader in this area of course delivery. I also look forward to sharing what I learn with the Buffalo State community.”
