Caitlin Bauer, M.A., is the transfer admissions advisor in the Admissions Office. She has been selected as the April recipent for the President's Professional Development Award. Caitlin will receive funds for her mileage, as she travels to Ithaca, NY to attend the New York State Transfer and Articulation Association Annual Conference on Tuesday, May 21 to Thursday, May 23, 2019.
" As a member of the admissions team at SUNY Buffalo State, attending the NYSTAA conference will allow me to remain current on transfer admissions best practices, and collaborate with other New York transfer admissions professionals in both the four-year and two-year college sectors to discuss relevant issues in credit transfer, financial aid, student participation, and recruitment strategies for transfer students. This knowledge will directly benefit my work towards developing and implementing recruitment plans for transfer students, and firm up my own knowledge base in issues of concern for transfer students that I can be more proactive in addressing. I will also be presenting a workshop at the conference entitled "How Involved is Too Involved? Parents and the Transfer Process." My presentation provides an opportunity to share my own strategies for working with transfer students with heavy parental involvement, as well as open up a forum for other admissions practitioners to discuss their experiences and discuss best practices for these unique situations."
