Professional Development workshop, "Crucial Confrontations," presented by Dr. Rita Zientek.

How do you respond to someone who fails to meet deadlines, follow through on promises, or exhibits inappropriate behavior?  We all face situations when someone doesn’t meet our expectations. The book, Crucial Confrontations, teaches skills to increase confidence in dealing with these tough situations. We will introduce some of the authors’ strategies to resolve failed promises and missed deadlines, turn broken rules and bad behaviors into productive accountability, and strengthen relationships while solving problems. At this session, you will learn the following:

• The definition of a crucial confrontation and how it differs from a crucial conversation
• ​How you decide whether to have a crucial confrontation
• Diagnosing the issue – is it context, pattern or relationship?
• ​Determining if the cause is related to ability or motivation
• What you do before, during and after a crucial confrontation
• Creating a plan for dealing with a personal confrontation you need to have
