Jennifer Toohey, M.F.A, is an assistant professor in the Theater department and has been selected as the March recipient for the President's Professional Development Award. Jennifer will be receiving $500.00 towards her registration to the Intimacy Choreographers Intensive, which was held this past February 12-19th 2019 in The Eugene O'Neil Theatre Center in Waterford, CT. Jennifer became a certified Intimacy Director during this 8-day intensive program, making her the only department in the region to have an Intimacy Director, which makes Buffalo State's theater department unique to study theater.
"It is crucial that awareness of the importance of intimacy direction be spread throughout our region, to avoid damaging both emerging and established artists. Attending the 8-day Intimacy Directors Intensive in February is essential to my research, and would place me, and accordingly Buffalo State, at the cutting edge of trends in the entertainment industry. It would be utilized for our students during scene work for acting classes, and during our productions."
Once Jennifer completed the certification, she brought Intimacy Director International's founder, Tonia Sina, to Buffalo State on February 24th, 2019 for a 3-hour workshop with 19 theater students. Below are some photos from the workshop.
