Win Min Thant, education coordinator for the Community Academic Center through the Educational Pipelines Initiative office, has been selected as the December recipient for the President's Professional Development Award. Win Min Thant will be receiving $500.00 towards her registration to the European Conference on Education 2019 (ECE2019), which will be held in London, UK from July 19th-21st, 2019.
Below is what Win Min Thant wrote about this exciting professional development opportunity:
"The conference will focus on "Independence & Interdependence" as a theme."
It will address questions such as:
- How do we help students and teachers alike navigate and curate the vast information available?
- How do we encourage individual growth while also underlining the importance of belonging and of the reciprocal responsibilities and privileges of education?
- How do we help students build the skills and attitudes necessary for positive engagement in distributed, globalized communities that often lead to polarization and alienation instead
- How do we educate with independence and interdependence in mind?
- How do we engage meaningfully in “international development” through education?
- What are the successes and failures of the international system in addressing some of the most pressing concerns of our time?
With these questions, the conference is exploring the following themes:
- Diversity in global contexts, education and socio-economic development, and education & development
- Local and global/domestic & international education
- Public and private partnerships, economics & Management of Education, Literacy
- Poverty & Sustainability, and Innovation & Value.
This conference will enhance my understanding of our campus co-existence with both global and glocal communities. I will also get an opportunity to exchange ideas, and explore new research paths that can strengthen all of our focus areas in Goal 2: recruiting, providing an outstanding on-campus student experience, support an engaging co-curricular program, and serve as an anchor institution."
