How long have you worked at Buffalo State University and if applicable what other areas have you worked/positions have you served in at Buffalo State University?
I have worked at Buffalo State for 14 years as a professor in Elementary Education.
What motivates you to provide excellent services for your colleagues, students, and supervisor?
I believe that faculty who feel personally connected to other faculty are best able to collaborate to deliver an engaging and coherent program for our students, and I try to connect faculty for collaborative teaching, service and research. I try to treat students the way that I wanted my own children to be treated when they were in college, making time for conversations and trying to help students access services they need on campus.
What personal philosophy about working with others guides your day-to-day work?
I try to follow the advice of Stephen M.R. Covey to “Trust and Inspire” my students and colleagues. I also try to accept the things that I cannot change and change the things that I can to make our department and campus the best that it can be.
What do you do when you are not working?
I spend my free time with friends and family, walking, talking, and hanging out.
