How long have you worked at Buffalo State? What other areas have you served at the college?
Twenty years. Along with Elementary Education and Reading Department, which I’ve been at for three years, I’ve worked for EOP, Residence Life, and the associate vice president for Campus Life.
What motivates you to provide excellent services for your colleagues, students, and supervisor?
The Golden Rule – "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."
What personal philosophy about working with others guides your day-to-day work?
Always do your best and try not to judge others because there’s no way to know what is going on in their lives.
What do you do when you are not working?
Spend time with my family, biking, taking walks, and enjoying nature.
"Julie consistently engages in acts of kindness to support faculty and students in our department. She organized 30 students to sign up for the Bengals Dare to Care Day in September and made sure they were assigned to two projects relevant to our major.
Julie is our United Way representative and is gracious in helping faculty and staff process contributions.
She consistently attends campuswide events, asking good questions about policies on behalf of her colleagues. She is always positively engaged in our department, offering to learn new processes and to translate these into easily implemented procedures for the chair and other faculty.
Julie welcomes everyone into our office with a positive can-do attitude. Students who enter our office always get a cheerful greeting and a respectful response from her. She finds out the answers to questions quickly and competently so that students trust that we have their best interests at heart and that we know how to collaborate with others on campus to get the job done. Julie Wholf is a caring Bengal who makes Buffalo State College a better place for everyone!"
"Bacon Hall 302 is the heart of our department, and Julie has created a very positive space that is both welcoming and helpful to students and faculty. Not only does she respond quickly to the many requests she receives, she does so with a warm smile. We truly appreciate Julie!"
